2009 Trip to Korea

We then continued on to Chuncheon to a great hotel called Sejong where for five days they endured a rigorous competition with players competing on every day of the tournament. This made for a hectic and tiring time but all players were focused, competition was fierce and it was fantastic experience for all. A few injuries along the way with Safwan tearing some ligaments in his wrist and Rima our only medallist (Bronze) which was a great result, ended up with a fractured collar bone. There was some amazing athletes and some great fights to watch, all in all a fabulous tournament. Well done by all.

The Team

UPT went off to the 7th Korean Open in Chuncheon this year, arriving in Seoul we stayed there for a few days to acclimatize, train and shop, not necessarily in that order. We took in Kukkiwon which had a tournament on at the time, here all re-kitted themselves with new equipment and uniforms. Staying in Yong San Gu which was an excellent location for food and convenience to transport.

The Venue

The team then went to Seoul for a few more days at the markets at Dondemon and Myung Dong, this made the trip home with luggage interesting. Á quick sightseeing trip on the way home with a stopover at Taipei in Taiwan. Here we visited the current tallest building in the world at 101 stories where we did the tour (what an amazing place) and grabbed a bite to eat. Then it was back to the airport and off home for a well needed rest.
