A very cold day for the 2009 World Cup Team Selections held at the AIS in Canberra. United Pro had seven players, all medalling in their divisions. Congratulations to Ali Khalil, Safwan Khalil & Rima Kanoun for getting Gold and a place on the Australian Team. Also a job well done with Hayder Shkara & Elly Greenfield getting Silver and Gylan Al Atroushi & Mohamed Korhani getting Bronze. Some tough bouts and some interesting calls made for a great day, Rima had to win two golden point matches, Hayder did very well against last years Olympian Burak Hasan in his final, Gylan and Mohamed also narrowly missing the finals with close matches with Gylan winning his first golden point match. Thank you supporters for travelling to this event all appreciated your efforts.

United Pro had fourteen players at the NSW Winter State & National Selections Tournament at the State Sports Centre. Congratulations to Imran Issa, Ali Issa, Sarene El Asmar, Joseph Vitagliano, Oliver Eparaima, Emnet Eid, Mohamed Khalil, Mohamed El Asmar, Sarah Coleman, Tarek Kanoun for getting Gold and Nathan Tartak & Mona Eid for getting Silver.  An interesting day for those unused to the smaller ring size and the new rules brought in by the WTF, this made for a very long day with Sarah’s fight being at 7.30pm. All did very well and a big thanks to Marwan who stayed right to the end to make sure his players were well coached. Also a thank you to Jane who tirelessly judged all day on the courts, and the senior players for their assistance coaching.
